RESEARCH BACKGROUND
Retatrutide (LY3437943) is the subject of a landmark phase 2, double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine. In adults with obesity, once-weekly retatrutide at the 12 mg dose produced a mean body-weight reduction of 24.2% after 48 weeks — with the weight-reduction curve not yet at a plateau when treatment ended.
A companion substudy published in Nature Medicine reported liver-fat reductions of more than 80% from baseline at the 8 mg and 12 mg doses in participants with metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease. Phase 3 evaluation continues under the TRIUMPH programme.
